Two Dora Cakes!
A few years back, I met this really cool chick, and she became one of my best friends. While getting some frozen custard at Rita’s one day, she tells that lately she’s been feeling either sick or hungry (hmmm), few months later, I met the cutest little twin babies!
These beautiful babies soon became adorable toddlers who turned 3 this past Friday, and I was delighted to make them individual Dora cakes, one pink and one purple.
At some point it hit me that I could mock up the cakes in Photoshop. You can see them below, a few things changed, the scripted writing for one, I couldn’t pipe that! That was a bit too ambitious. Also, I added the polka dots since I had extra fondant, in fact I still do.
- Pink Cake for Jessica.
- Purple Cake for Jackie.
- The end Product!
- Side by side – Sorry it’s a cell phone shot.
Alright peeps, what I learned was:
- This moment while writing this post, I just learned that Dora’s nose is just a little curve and not at all how I drew it.
- Chocolate is not very forgiving while doing line work.
- Silicone pans are awesome for melting marshmallows in microwave, they slid right off!
- The dough hook of a Kitchenaid is great for kneading MMF.
- Whipped Ganache is quite tasty.
- Writing on cakes is difficult.

Guess I’m that ‘really cool chick’ with the adorable toddlers. These cakes were AWESOME (in appearance and taste)!! I’m not sure who was more excited about them – me or the birthday girls!!
Thanks again!!

Thanks! Taste is very important to me, I really focus on making them as tasty if not tastier than how good they look!
