I am lucky to have both my friends and family supporting my decision to change careers, but I have to say husband has been supportive in a near motivational speaker level, and I love him for it (amongst many other reason why), so of course, I made the exact cake he requested.
The request came a few weeks ago, it was for a kind of cake we eat a lot in Brazil, you might not know this but Ms. Cherryspoon grew up there, anyways, the cake is a simple white cake, with pastry cream and fresh chopped strawberries filling.
It was very tasty! Plus I got to make pastry cream for the very first time, so I am one step closer to being able to make my favorite cake, Gâteau St. Honoré, just kidding I have a ways to go before I can tackle that.
I’m not sold on the final presentation, don’t think I’m smearing pastry cream on the top of a cake ever again, but it was very tasty and the “client” loved it.
Ok my pretties I learned this:
- How to make pastry cream, now all I need are the puffs!
- Smearing pastry cream on the top of a cake is messy
- Just now I noticed, should have put it in the fridge last night!
