I’ve been on a Chai kick lately and it was only a matter of time before I decided to bake with it! On a side note, my posts have been somewhat verbose lately, so this one will be short and sweet, pinky promise.

The recipe for the cupcakes is from All recipes (I love that they recalculate the ingredients for you!), they came out incredibly tasty but the texture was very mushy moist and dense, it reminded me a lot of Brazilian Honey Bread, so much so that next time I might cover them in Semi-Sweet Chocolate. For this batch, however, I opted to try out Spork or Foon’s Honey Ginger Cream, which is very tasty!

The hearts atop these cakes showed up simply because the Cream is the perfect texture for that kind of decoration, I couldn’t resist!

This awesome van, was supposed to be on my cupcakes, if it hadn’t refused to transfer to my fondant circles. My plan was to trace the resized image onto Wax Paper with the Food Writer and then transfer it by pressuring the fondant circle on it!  Look at how cool it looked traced.

What I wasn’t expecting was that the ink in the awesome “food Sharpie” dries lightning quick (which if you think about it is actually a good thing) and what transferred to my circle was just a few smudges. The smudges we’re covered by an impromptu smoke monster, it was then that I realized the pen was great and I might as well have fun with it! And there you have it “Lost Classic Lines” cupcakes. Not the prettiest cupcakes I’ve ever made, but definitely a fun project!

Since the post went up yesterday, I’ve been reminded of other great lines:

• “Dude, you’ve got some Arzt on you.”
• “That douche is my dad”
• “You’re going to die, Charlie”

And I’m making a “Jears” on too next time!

More about these tomorrow! I’m busy watching LOST!!! I will say however my favorite is ” I love you Penny” and my least favorite is the “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” because the writing wasn’t that neat.

Aaaaaaaah Baked… I have mentioned a few times I’ve had an e-crush on Baked. So, being that Baked is very close to Ikea, where I had to go this past weekend anyways, this week’s “Go Here” was obvious (not to mention exciting!). Sounds like a plan doesn’t it? Except I was still sore (very sore and did I mention cranky?) from unloading boxes off of trucks and carrying stuff up and down stairs ergo (ergo!)  perusing Pax wardrobes and Malm headboards had quickly turned into a tragic affair.

In comes my knight in shiny armor (otherwise known as my husband), and suggests , I should sit still by the water that he would get some cupcakes for us to enjoy. He might have just wanted to get the hell away from me, but it still was a very nice gesture.

I think he was also hungry because he came back with four cupcakes and a lemon marshmallow! Some of Baked’s cupcakes are versions of their signature cakes. Above from left to right we have is a hostess like cupcake, Aunt Sassy’s Pistachio Surprise, a chocolate with chocolate frosting cupcake and Sweet and Salty.

The “hostess” cupcake’s cake was very good, moist with a rich chocolate flavor, the Ganache was yummy but the white filling didn’t taste like much, but honestly it didn’t ruin it. The Pistachio’s cake was tasty with Pistachio’s in the dough, the white frosting on top was unfortunately overly sweet (for my taste). The chocolate/chocolate one was an all around hit with us, the frosting was delicious and so was the cake! Which brings us to the Sweet and Salty cupcake, the Fleur de Sel on the Caramel Chocolate Ganache was delicious and I will have to go back for this one, since my bite didn’t reach the caramel filling!

Oh the Marshmallow was heavenly! I will most definitely go back to Baked, or rather actually make it there, so I can share with all of you what it smells and feels like inside.

Their book “Baked: New Frontiers in Baking” has a lot of good reviews and my good friend Dessert-o-licious just baked their Peanut Butter Crispy Bars. They look so good!

I stamped fondant for the first time ever, and I’m pretty happy with the result.
Of course, the stamp I used is adorable! Already loved stamps anyway, but never used them. Do you?

It’s yet another cool thing you can do with Fondant. Of course you can buy fondant “texturers” almost anywhere, but searching for cools things around the house seems more fun.
