What you see above is the Frosted Pound Cake Souffle, with frozen strawberry lemonade and yogurt sorbet, it was my favorite dessert of the evening (we tried a lot of them!), the Souffle was absolutely delicious total comfort food, the frozen strawberry lemonade with the Sorbet was bright and worked perfectly with the Souffle and the frosting. I had been thinking about this dessert for weeks, and it was ever bit as good as I imagined. (That doesn’t happen that often.)

This Poached Rhubarb Tart above came with almond sable, earl grey tea ice cream (my favorite Ice Cream Flavor!).

A while back I had some awesome house guests, the twist was they we’re vegan (and I’m not), but it really wasn’t a twist since it turns out being a vegan in NYC isn’t exactly hard. There are vegan products everywhere, vegan restaurants, vegan cafes and ,of course, a killer vegan bakery Babycakes! Now, mind you, these guests being crazy well informed already knew from the start that we had to go to Babycakes no matter what… And they were right, mostly.

When I met my ICE Admissions director, she quickly put me in touch with two ICE alums that we’re also from Brazil. One of which was just about to come to NY for a class and that’s how I met the awesome Priscila from Make the Cake (the website is Portuguese but pics are universal!!) Let’s go! Amazing fluffy cake? Check. Tasty not to sweet Frosting? Check! They stay true to their cupcakes for grown-ups approach! My little piece of heaven was Chocolate with Raspberry frosting, husband had the Banana cake with Coconut frosting, and while I didn’t try the Coconut frosting (Coconut is my nemesis), the banana cake was amazing!
I had brought the Raspberry chocolate cupcake home to take a picture for you guys, an action that sold me out to the cool lady behind the counter who asked me: “Are you a cupcake blogger?” She found me out, peeps! She then told me that all their ingredient are organic and showed me her awesome cupcake tattoo. Anyways, the cupcake took a thrashing on the F train, so the picture would not have done it justice.
So, dear readers, I will suggest you checkout the great pics Cupcakes Take the Cake posted or the one posted by the also awesome Blondie and Brownie, this weeks “go here” was spur of the moment and I apologize for having no camera with me. It did however raise the bar for my cupcake reviews so high, I’m think of revisiting the previous ones.
