
Dora Cake for Jessie.
A few years back, I met this really cool chick, and she became one of my best friends. While getting some frozen custard at Rita’s one day, she tells that lately she’s been feeling either sick or hungry (hmmm), few months later, I met the cutest little twin babies!
These beautiful babies soon became adorable toddlers who turned 3 this past Friday, and I was delighted to make them individual Dora cakes, one pink and one purple.

Just yesterday, I hopped on my trusty B67 to Target to fetch a cake stand.

I could have made one myself all along!
This one looks a little too ominous for my taste, however it’s a cool thing to keep in mind.
If you are curious, I got a very simple pretty glass one. I am very into simple these days.

Inspired by Bakerella’s awesome Valentine’s Candy Cake, I decided to make dear husband something similar but not quite.
Based on the heart shape being slightly girly (I consulted with my go to “guy questions” friend), red velvet not his favorite type of cake and store bought fondant not to his taste as well, I made many off the cuff changes. The plan then was to make a square shaped candy box, the cake being a Brown Sugar Spice covered in Dark Chocolate Ganache.
I got to test many things while doing this project, the first one was my brand new Williams-Sonoma Rectangular Cake Pan
which I have to say is great, the cake was uniform and perfectly baked, the second test was that I had been meaning to try Marshmallow fondant since forever… Which I did! It was great, however, I think it was too elastic for the purpose.
